All eyes will be shifting away from the Dairiboad Rugbyes Festival and all focus to the St John’s Hockey Festival.
The school has been one of the best private schools that are very much passionate about the development of grassroot hockey. This year edition will be the third one. First edition was in 2017 and a total of 11 teams participated in the tournament.
2018 numbers of teams increased to 19 which saw an inclusion of coaching clinics happening before the festival kick start. Dutch coaches namely Dennis van de Pol, Kiki Collet D’Escury, ED O’ Mahoney who have won Olympics medals conducted the coaching clinics.
This year edition keeps on growing bigger and better as 20 hockey teams have registered to take part in the tour and host school has also invited six foreign coaches and 3 local coaches to impart their experience and knowledge on the future of Zimbabwe hockey.
Hockey Hub Zimbabwe who are supporting the St John’s College Hockey Festival have announced that they have selected Alan Wilson Boys High School to be the team they will be sponsoring. Hockey technology will be put to taste as the Hockey hub will be offering all 20 schools taking part in the tournament will receive free match analysis video,coded using coach logic video analysis software. A system that is used as a component of any successful sport at high school, club,provisional, national and international level.
In addition to all the 👆 a special once off discount and dental mould perform mouth guards for all players taking part in the festival. St John’s College alongside Redz hockey will also be collecting hockey sticks,hockey gear,hockey boots for underprivileged players.
Tournament kicks off tomorrow up until 4 May at St John’s College.
