It never rains but it pours for the Zimbabwe U-21 national netball team. Last year the team was invited to take part in the Spar Challenge International Netball Series, where they were scheduled to play three games against South Africa U-21. An opportunity the team missed after Zimbabwe Netball Association failed to raise funds.

This week the world netball governing body International Netball Federation announced that they had cancelled the Netball Youth World Cup Qualifiers due to the novel covid-19 pandemic. Uganda were suppose to host the Africa Netball Youth World Cup which also served as Netball Youth World Cup qualifiers.

International Netball Federation further decided to use the INF rankings to determine the qualifiers. Three countries namely South Africa, Malawi and Uganda will represent the African continent at the 2021 Netball Youth World Cup scheduled for Fiji.

Zimbabwe Baby Gems made their debut appearance at the Netball Youth World Cup in 2017 and finished on 9th.
