At a time when most sports academy struggle to finds sponsors, Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe have announced water logistics company McCarthy Water Logistics as their Saturday chess events sponsors.
Knights Chess Academy Zimbabwe was formed in the year 2011 by John Chibvuri, with the aim of continuously identifying, training and nurturing young talent and aid them to the national chess team development.
Since the covid-19 lockdown restrictions were put in place, no contract sports has been played. But Knights Chess Academy have utilised Lichess.org to keep youngsters and older players busy with chess events in these unusual times.
Because of they have the young at heart McCarthy Water Logistics have chipped in and have been funding all of Knights Chess Academy Saturday events.
To add on the the corporate sponsor effort is also another passionate individual sponsor.
This week a total of 20 players registered to take part in the weekly events, competiting in three different categories namely overall top 3, ladies top 3 and Top Junior U-14.
Mushininga Tatenda won the overall top position, with Edith Muyambiri been crowned champion in the ladies section.
Goldridge Primary school student Tafadzwa Muriro was crowned as the Junior U-14 winner.
