With the aim of trying to keep youths away from the street during this time of the novel covid-19 pandemic Alms Machengedzero, Mbongeni Lubambo and Donald Mbondo organised an Under20 online chess tournament.

A total of 26 players registered to participate in the tournament but only 23 were able to play. Farai Hamandishe won the tournament with a win rate of 74%.

Michael Ngwerume finished second whilst Mathamela Ndlovu settled for third position. Only four ladies registered to participate but one couldn’t play leaving the three ladies in the tournament.

Number of registered participants was too small to allow separate ladies and gents categories therefore it was a mixed tournament.

Ropafadzo Dube and Rumbidzai Sango were the winners in the ladies section.
