Zimbabwe was supposed to host the Zone 6 handball tournament this year in April but due to Covid 19 the tourney was postponed to an unspecified date. The tournament where South Africa, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana and other SADC countries were expected to participate is patiently waiting for a greenlight from the SRC and the Ministry of Sports to commence activities.

At the moment Zimbabwe Handball Federation is consulting with other participating countries for setting a feasible date, said Edson Chirowodza. Currently, the Zimbabwe Handball has received guidelines from Confederation of African Handball on resumption of handball activities. Edson also confirmed that they are also crafting their own regulations for submission to SRC and Ministry of Sports.
ZHF has managed to assist its players and coaches through provision of food and data bundles during these difficult times of Covid 19. The players will use data bundles to access training materials, research as well as give feedback to their coaches.Though there is hope for this year’s games, the local handball league was completely cancelled.
