After 18 hours of voting Moroccan Hajij Bouchra was elected as the new Confederation of African Volleyball president.
Bouchra Hajij, is the president of the Royal Moroccan Volleyball Federation. Before elections Hajij presented her manifesto for volleyball with particular emphasis on rising the level of volleyball in the continent.
Two candidate were contesting for the top position. Egyptian Amr Elwani who had served as president of CAVB since 2001 against a youthful lady Hajij Bouchra from Morocco.
The youthful Hajij Bouchra garnered 42 votes to unseat incumbent Dr Elwanu who got 12 votes.She becomes the first female to be elected as the president of African Volleyball Confederation.
