Unlike last year when players had to undergo PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or serologic test before they could take part in any COSAFA competition this year, Council for Southern African Football says those that will take part in this year’s competition should be vaccinated.
Participants in this year’s edition of the COSAFA tournament will be required to produce proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
We need a safe environment for both players and officials during the tournament and that we are not going to compromise said an official from the regional governing board.
The World Health Organization last month issued an Emergency Use Listing for Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, AstraZeneca/Oxford Covid-19 vaccine.
Cosafa tournaments have been slated to start in May starting with the men’s COSAFA Cup from May 31 to June 16. Whilst the Cosafa Women’s Championship is scheduled for September.
