Malawian striker Tabitha Chawinga has joined little sister Temwa Chawinga at the Chinese topflight side Wuhan Jiangda on a two-year contract with an option of extension.
The move was necessitated after Jiangsu Suning group of companies stopped sponsoring the Jiangsu football teams. Leading to Chawinga parting ways with them.
Wuhan Jiangda are the 2020 Chinese Women’s Super League Champions and Tabitha’s younger sister Temwa played a pivotal role in helping them secure the Championship last season.
Tabitha has already started training with her new team and her little sister will be joining her in a week after her travel was delayed due to air ticket complications.
This is not the first time the sisters will be playing club football for the same club, in 2017 the Chawinga’s briefly played together for Kvarnsvedens IK In Sweden.
The 2021 Chinese Women’s Super League has been tentatively set to start in April.
