Over the last 10 days the Local Organizing Committee, medical delegate, sponsors and stakeholders of the 2021 Africa Triathlon Cup held extensive discussion pertaining to the prestigious triathlon event.

After deliberation and considered consultations with all key and relevant stakeholders. The Local Organizing Committee agreed that under the current situation in Zimbabwe the event should not take. All key and relevant stakeholders endorsed the decision.

Bonaqua 2021 Africa Triathlon Cup Troutbeck and all associated multi sport events on will no longer happen on 20 February. Writing on their website Triathlon Zimbabwe said the decision to postpone the event was difficult. But all parties involved considered the health and safety of all athletes and officials.

A variety of dates for rescheduled were considered with the first option in April. But securing the entire Troutbeck venue was a factor putting into consideration that after the event water temperature may drop too low for mass participation events. October and November dates were also tabled but ruled out due to the that they will be school exams. And a number of World Triathlon events.

Last option is to host the event on the 25th of September which falls within the new Triathlon season, but still relevrelevant to the event being hosted within 2021 from an International, Continental, Regional and local perspective. Triathlon Zimbabwe will continue to look at amending their new season plans, as a result of the current disrupted season.
