Rowing Association of Zimbabwe hosted the annual RAZ National Championship at Hunyani Rowing Club in Mazowe yesterday.

St George’s Boat Club continued their dominance in the tournament in a heavily contest challenge against Peterhouse Boys. At the end of the event it St George’s that won and retained the shield.

In the girls Section it was Chisipite Girls and Peterhouse neck to neck with the Chisi ladies emerging victories. Chisipite Senior School has produced some of the best rowers one of them been Lorryn Bass who was the flag bearer of team Zimbabwe at the Youth Olympics Games last year.

The teams are now preparing for the South African Schools Championship that will be happening on the 1st of March at Roodeplaat Dam in South Africa. Last time Zimbabwe performed well in the competition and did well was in the year 2017, when Peterhouse Rowing Club won the South African Schools Rowing Championship.

The 2017 Peterhouse winning team included Kenneth Raynor and Emma Kuipers.
