Namibian track and field star Christine Mboma was announced as one of the five nominees for the 2021 Female Rising Star Award by the World Athletics.
The Female Rising Star Award recognize the best U20 athletes, hence athletes were nominated reflecting on their many incredible performances this year at the World Athletics U20 Championship in Nairobi, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, and other events around the world.
Christine Mboma had an impressive season setting a new World U20 200m record, winning an Olympic silver medal in the 200m Diamond League Champion.
She will be competing for the awards alongside Great Britains Keely Hodgkinson who is an 800m Olympic silver medalist and 800m Diamond League Champion. World U20 hammer champion Silja Kosonen, Athing Mu from the USA, and Ethiopian Zerfe Wondemagcgn are the other nominees.
The winners of the 2021 Female Rising Star Award will be selected by an international panel of experts and the winners of the awards will be announced on the 1st of December.
