Zimbabwe basketball player Julian Mavunga received a treble having been named Player of the year, forward of the year, and Import player of the in the Asia Basketball League awards of 2021.
Julian Mavhunga is the older brother to WNBA player Stephanie Mavunga of Indiana Fever. The power forward plays for Toyama Grouses in the Central Conference of B.League.
The 30-year old was involved in his team’s offensive attack and proved to be a real handful helping his club reach the league playoffs quarterfinals. And they were defeated by Ryukyu Golden Kings 86-77 in the decisive game.
Despite failing to progress to the semi-finals Toyama Grouse’s were left smiling after their player Julian Mavunga won three awards in the Asia-Basketball league awards. Mavunga was Import Player of the Year, Forward of the year, and Player of the year.
He is also part of the Asia-Basket B-league first team of 2021 alongside his teammate Joshua Smith who also won the league Centre of the year award.
