The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee Quadrennial General Meeting which saw Thabani Gonye running for the post of President unopposed looks like it has brought about some changes.
Thabani Gonye who had been appointed by the previous ZOC Executive as team Zimbabwe Chef de Mission at the Tokyo Olympics games will no longer be traveling as the country Chef de Mission but rather President of NOC.
The Vice President of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee Fredreck Ndlovu will now replace Gonye as the Chef de Mission. According to a statement released by ZOC, they conducted a selection process and the board endorsed Ndlovu as Gonye replacement.
Ndlovu is currently the Vice President of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, and also serves as the Vice President of the Confederation of African Volleyball. In 2016 he led Team Zimbabwe for the AUSC Region 5 Under 20 Youth Games as the Deputy Chef de Mission technical.
The Olympics were scheduled to be held last year, but owing to covid19 it was postponed by a year and will now begin this July.
