Dreams do come true if only you work hard.
Former St George’s College captain of the Rowing Club Peter Purcell Gilpin will be representing Zimbabwe at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Going to the Olympics has been one of Gilpin’s dreams and goals and finally, the Zimbabwean rower will be heading to the Olympics.
Gilpin won his final selection trials and secured his spot for the Olympics.
Already Gilpin had received an Olympic Solidarity scholarship of £560 a month which helps him with his training expenses each month. He however has to self-fund for other expenses like training camps etc.
Therefore he has now turned to crowdfund. In just two days the rowing sensation had raised £2,815 out of £3,000.
Gilpin is the only Zimbabwean rower that will represent the country at the Olympic games. And he will be participating in the men’s single sculls.
