A total of 208 athletes from 24 African countries will be representing the continent in the IAAF World Cross Country Championship taking place this Saturday in Aarhus Denmark.
In the female section Zimbabwe will be represented by Rudo Mhonderwa whilst Conscious Nyamutsitsa will represent the males. Both Nyamutsitsa and Mhonderwa were crowned winner in the National Cross Country Championship.
Nyamutsitsa has been breaking records since last year preparing for the championship. Just last year Conscious won the Old Mutual Vumba Mountain Run for the third year running, in the same competition Rudo Mhonderwa also won the GOLD medal in the ladies section.
Rudo has been training with the Nedbank Running Club and they have helped her prepare for the major championship since 2018. Speaking to the Sports Fanatic Mhonderwa said she is ready for the race and also made it clear that she is aiming to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
