The Africa Netball Cup kicked off yesterday in Windhoek, Namibia, with defending champions South Africa outclassing Zimbabwe 78-27.
The Zimbabwe Gems refused to be intimidated by the Spar Proteas as they dominated the better part of the first quarter. The Proteas, however, capitalized on the Gem’s poor ball handling as they took the first quarter 16-11.
South Africa continued with its impressive performance as it extended its lead, finishing the second quarter 35-21.
Zimbabwe struggled to maintain the South African pace, only managing to score two points whilst their opponents won the championship quarter 58-35.
The Dorette Badenhorst coached side outclassed the Zimbabwe Gems 78-27, kick-starting their champions defense on a high.
Zimbabwe Gems are hoping to dust off their defeat to South Africa when they play Namibia today at 9 a.m. South Africa will be playing against the Pent Series runners-up Malawi.
