Zimbabwe debut appearance in Afrobasket Championship was in 2015 after our historical win against the then rivals South Africa. In our debut appearance we finished on position 14 out of 16.
Just when we thought we would make our second appearance at Africa’s biggest basketball showpiece, information gathered by Sports Rifle 724 suggest that Zimbabwe will not be participating in the tournament.
Latest information on the FIBA Africa website indicate that only three countries South Sudan, Chad and Cape Verde will tussle for the AfroBasket 2021 qualifier ticket.

Speaking unanimously a member of Basketball Union of Zimbabwe said that the union was struggling financial and could not afford travelling and player covid-19 test costs. Moreover we are yet to get the greenlight to resume training from the government.
